High Touch- High Tech (HTHT) is a fun and interactive science experience. They come into schools for afterschool and in school programs, working with preschool , elementary, and middle school students. They also do presentations to seniors.
High Touch -High Tech visited four local middles schools in Wheeling, Buffalo Grove & Elk Grove Village which include Holmes , Cooper and London Middle Schools, and Grove Jr High School.
“The students absolutely loved the experience.” said Noelle Bennett, Parental and Community Engagement AmeriCorps VISTA at HandsOn Suburban Chicago.
On November 5, students at Holmes Middle School in Wheeling experienced the amazing aspects of electricity. The workshop was called Edison’s Workshop. On November 6, Cooper Middle School students in Buffalo Grove became meteorologists for the day with the Weather or Not Workshop. On November 18, London Middle School students in Wheeling learned how to solve crimes with the Forensic Fun Workshop and on November 7, Grove Jr High students in Elk Grove Village used their engineering skills in the Inventors Workshop.
“It was an eye opening experience, and they were able to apply what they learn in their class to these hands-on workshops, ” said Bennett.
High Touch- High Tech has a wide range of experiments to share and create with their clients.
High Touch – High Tech has been fueling the imagination of children everywhere, since 1994, by providing FUN, interactive, hands-on science and nature experiences for children. Through discovery style learning and inquiry based dialogue, children are engaged in exciting programs that encourage them to explore the many wonders of science and nature. Students become the Scientist and do REAL Experiments! All HTHT workshops aligned with Science Common Core & Next Generation of Science Standards (NGSS).
