The Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service – June 16-18, 2014 – is the largest convening of service leaders from all walks of life, sectors, races and religions, and political persuasions, united to lead the dynamic, ever-expanding, international volunteer service movement. This event joins 5,000 people on a single mission – to strengthen communities and change lives through volunteer service.
The 2014 Conference will be held in Atlanta, a city with a rich history of social impact and a promising future based on social entrepreneurship and business, faith-based leadership and institutions of higher learning. The Conference will showcase those on the forefront of the service revolution who have new ideas and proven solutions to tough community problems. Participants will hear from dynamic voices who meld digital prowess with down-home inspiration, provocative thinking with old-fashioned activism – to drive, empower and engage volunteers toward positive solutions.
This year, meet Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, filmmaker, actor and philanthropist Tyler Perry, CEOs of nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies, and thousands of other service leaders as we share best practices; learn about new tools, technologies and strategies for engaging volunteers; and prove that, no matter the challenge or opportunity, service unites.
HandsOn Suburban Chicago will be presenting a break-out session on Wednesday, June 18th entitled A Fast Track to Impact and Funding: Strategic Volunteer Integration. Chris Smith, Executive Director and Patty Neuswanger, Director of Marketing & Development from HandsOn Suburban Chicago will lead the presentation and will be joined by Jaqueline Scafidi of the Zurich North America’s Community Investment Team.
